MILK

 MILK

This is the secretion of the mammary glands (breast). It is the only food drink that an infant needs for the first six months of life. The first milk made by the breast is a thick yellowish substance known as Colostrum. It contains all the essential substance of the human diet except iron. It contains anti bodies that helps to protect the baby from infection such as diptheria measles etc.

REASONS WHY BREAST MIIK IS THE BEST DIET FOR FEEDING HUMAN BABIES

1. It contain the correct amount of proteins, carbohydrates, mineral salts, and water. It is therefore a balance diet.

2. Colostrum contains antybodies which protect the baby from infection.

3. It is easy for the baby to digest.

4. It is at the right temperature for the baby.

5. It is available on demand and requires no preparation

6. It is free form contamination by microbes such as bacteria.

7. It contains Taurine which promote the best growth and development of the child.

8. It creates a cytological bond between the mother and the child.

NOTE:

A woman who is breast feeding a baby is less likely to become pregnant. Breast feeding therefore can be used for spaced out birth and delay menstruation.

Breast milk how ever is a less satisfying diet for an adult because:

1. It has no Iron for Haemoglobin formation.

2. It is too watery  (has a high water contain).

3. It lacks pirougage of fiber for the stimulation of peristalsis.

4. It contains a high proportion of fats which increases the ricks of heard disease

5. Adult lack enzyme renin to curdle milk protein.

 6. The amount of vitamin in it is very small.

- If breast milk were the principal diet for adults, large amount will have to be consumed and serious blood deficiencies will result from the lost of iron.

REASONS WHY COW'S MILK IS NOT USED FOR HUMAN BABIES.

- It is not readily available.

- It is expensive

- It contains more fats than breast milk.

- It is not at the correct temperature for the child.

- It contains less proteins.

- It is not easily digestible

- It may easily be contaminated by bacteria

- It lacks human antibodies

- It is not a balance diet for human babies,

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WHITE BLOOD CELLS AND RED BLOOD CELLS

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WHITE BLOOD CELLS AND RED BLOOD CELLS RED BLOOD CELLS  WHITE BLOOD CELLS    1.   Biconcave disc shape Irregular in shape   2. Hemoglobin present. Hemoglobin absent   3. No nucleus in matured red blood cells    Nucleus present   4. smaller in size and more numerous larger larger Larger in size and fewer in number   5. Transport oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and carbon dioxide from the tissue to the lungs.   Defends the body against infection and disease    6. Only one type.   Many types

MOLE CONCEPT

THE MOLE CONCEPT INTRODUCTION   In ordinary life items are counted using a named collection of them or counting units. For example, farmers eggs in dozens (12), shop keepers sell sheets of papers in reams (500 papers), Elementary chemical particles (atoms, ions, molecules, electrons, etc)are very small.  Chemist therefore, for convenient reasons count them by weighing a collection of them. The counting unit in chemistry is called THE MOLE (6.02X1023particles). The number of atoms in exactly 12 grams of carbon-12 isotope is chosen as the standard.  What is a mole? The mole of a substance is the amount of substance that contains the same number of elementary particles which are (atoms, ions, molecules) as there are in exactly 12 grams of carbon-12 isotope.  Mole=mass/molar mass In the definition of mole above,  we see that: 1 mole of hydrogen atoms, H, contains 6.02x1023 hydrogen atoms, H. 1 mole of oxygen molecule, O2 , contains 6.02x1023 oxygen mole...
